Facebook: Group Use And Community Standards
Our Facebook group is at the heart of the SheRides community - a place for women to connect, share experiences, ask questions, and find support on their biking journey.
Statement of UnderstandinG
To keep the space positive, inclusive, and aligned with the SheRides ethos, we’ve outlined what is and isn’t allowed within the group. As an administrator/ moderator of the group we hope you’ll help enforce these standards. These guidelines are based on discussions with ambassadors and are intended to help maintain clarity and consistency across our community.
As ambassadors, you play a key role in guiding the tone and direction of our online community. Please make sure you’re confident in what types of posts are appropriate, and gently step in (or flag with SheRides HQ) if anything falls outside these boundaries.
What’s Allowed
Posts about women’s riding days and coaching
Events such as BikePark Wales (BPW), Forest of Dean (FOD) or similar women’s days and coaching sessions are absolutely welcome. Sharing these helps women find opportunities to ride and progress.
Members asking for local rides or ambassadors in their area
Encourage people to connect, find others to ride with, or reach out to ambassadors nearby. This helps strengthen our local networks.
Ad-hoc meet-ups in areas without an ambassador
If there’s no ambassador in someone’s area, it’s fine for members to post and arrange informal meet-ups. Just make sure it’s clear these are not official SheRides rides.
General chat and advice
All the usual biking talk is welcome — from “Where should I ride next?” to “What forks should I get?” (Answer: the ones that squish 😄). Keep it light, helpful, and inclusive.
Women’s MTB or bike-related businesses
We’re all about supporting women in the biking world. Posts about women-led MTB brands, coaches, or services are welcome. Including and especially yours! If you want to promote your MTB business in relation to women's events, please use this as a platform.
Trips and holidays
Sharing details of MTB trips, holidays, or travel experiences is great.
Signposting to other women’s groups or initiatives
If it’s relevant and helps women find more ways to ride, it’s absolutely fine to share. Ambassadors can direct members to external websites or social media pages as needed.
What’s Not Allowed
Promoting other organised group rides
Members (and ambassadors) shouldn’t directly promote other group rides such as Breeze rides or similar if they already have a platform to do so.
However - ambassadors may signpost members to those organisations’ websites or social media if appropriate. (For example: “You might want to check out British Cycling’s Breeze programme.”)
Selling items or services
The group isn’t a buy/sell platform. No posts about selling bikes, kit, or personal services. This helps keep the focus on community and riding.
Ambassador Role
As an ambassador, your role as an admin or moderator in the Facebook group is to:
Model positive engagement and help guide discussion.
Step in if posts fall outside the guidelines.
Remind members (gently!) that casual meet-ups are not official SheRides rides.
Flag any issues or uncertainties with the SheRides HQ team.
You’re not expected to monitor constantly -just help keep the group aligned with the SheRides tone: supportive, inclusive, and empowering.
Just to be clear, this is completely voluntary. Please be as involved ask you’d like to be, there is nothing expected of you in this Facebook group but if you choose to be active we appreciate you keeping these guidelines in mind.
In Summary
The SheRides Facebook group exists to:
Connect riders
Share knowledge and encouragement
Build confidence and community
