Social Ride Location(s)
Cannock Chase
On my social rides you can expect some fun and chats with like-minded women, always hills because Cannock is not flat. We are always happy to stop and have a look at features if people want to. Cannock is a great location to build confidence, with a mixture of marked trail centre style trails and off piste if you’re looking for something different, with plenty of ‘mystery trails’ to explore.
Tell Us About Yourself
My name is Gabs, I have been mountain biking properly for 3 years after racing in various disciplines as a teenager. As part of the Army Enduro MTB team I race both local and national series level events. I try to get out on my MTB once a week plus other sessions in the gym/running/hiking. My favourite places to ride have to be Wales and Scotland, but I am hoping to explore mountain biking outside of the UK for the first time in 2026.
Aside from the physical workout - building strength and endurance, I love that MTB is a workout for your mind as well, picking lines and thinking about the best way to approach a section. I love the thrill of tackling new features and seeing my confidence and ability grow. I love that you do not need to wear lycra and it’s a lot more chilled that road riding.
Why SheRides?
SheRides is a fantastic initiative – I first became aware of it when I was looking for a ride to join as many of my MTB friends are not local. I met some great women and was shown around a riding location that I would not have found on my own. I was hooked. The encouragement and inclusivity are something that I really wanted to be a part of and begin taking that into other venues to get more women on their bikes, making friends and being confident in going out for a ride. So becoming a SheRides ambassador is a great opportunity to give women confidence to go out riding which they may not have had on their own, giving them an inclusive group to join and make friends.
