Chalet checklist for SheRides Women's Mountain Bike Retreat in Les Gets

The Chalet

The Alpine Lodge is a modern chalet with a cool blend of rustic and sleek touches, bursting with with alpine cosiness. There is a fire place, an open plan living room that flows out onto a huge sundeck with plenty of comfortable seating, an oversize outdoor hot tub and a BBQ.

The chalet is equipped with a secure garage for bike storage, off road parking if you choose to drive, and has laundry facilities available. It sleeps up to 14 guests (16 when you include your hosts).

The Alpine Lodge is located just 400m from the main Chavannes Express chairlift, which is about a 3 minute cycle, it’s also less than a five minute walk to the village centre. So whether you want to grab a coffee, saunter around the shops, or hit the bike park, it’s all on your doorstep. The perfect location for an MTB holiday!

  • You will be catered for during your stay by your very own chalet chef. You’ll have breakfast available every morning and a freshly prepared evening meal 4 out of the 5 nights (see ‘chalet chef & host day off’ below for more information).

    What’s Included:

    • Continental Breakfasst

    Available every morning

A continental breakfast will be laid out every day in a self-serve style, there will be fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, bread, tea and coffee and a selection of pastries from some of our favourite local bakeries. On host day off we’ll make sure you know where everything is the night before.

    • Family-Style 2 Course Dinner

*Available 4 out of the 5 days*

We will be making you a hearty, 2-course family-style dinner in the evening, designed to tick all the nutritional boxes after a day shredding the bike park, cooked by a professional chef, and available for you to enjoy in a relaxed and chill setting.

Family-style essentially means there will be enough food for everyone to help themselves and eat on their own schedule, outside in the evening sun, at the dining table or even relaxing on the sofas in front of a movie. We don’t want to create a formal eating environment, we just want everyone to feel comfortable and relaxed, enjoying the company of the women around them in our cosy chalet.

Meals will either consist of a main with a side and a decadent dessert, or a starter and a main with a side; for example a 10 hour slow-cooked bolognaise served over linguine, with home-made garlic bread and parmesan, followed by a banging brownie and some ice cream.

Simple, delicious and nutritious food served with good vibes and made with quality ingredients.

Don’t want to eat in the chalet?

If you’d rather head out into to town for a meal on any of the nights during your stay, you absolutely can do so, just be sure to tell your hosts beforehand. (This won’t affect the price of the holiday)

    • Drinks

We’ll have a stocked beer fridge that you can help yourself to whenever you like. We’ll also have sparkling water available and of course fresh mountain water straight from the tap! If you want to bring your own drinks and pop them in the fridge then this more than ok.

    • Snacks

We’ll have sweet and savoury snacks available throughout the day in the chalet, for you to help yourself.

    Dietary Requirements

We’ll do our very best to cater for any dietary requirements or preferences you let us know about in advance (at no extra cost). While we aim to offer suitable alternatives where possible, we cannot guarantee that all requests can be accommodated.

Chalet Chef & Host Day Off

Your chef and host have Saturday off which means you’ll receive dinner 4 days out of 5. We can help you book somewhere for dinner when you arrive (we find that usually everyone on the trip likes to dine out together). A continental breakfast will still be available in chalet on chef & host day off.

  • Your hosts, Heather (SheRide’s founder) and her partner Tom* (your chef for the week), will be in the chalet to cook and to help during your stay.

They are there in a more friendly and relaxed capacity than a formal hosting capacity. There won’t be any room service, towel changes or mid week cleans. The whole aim of this trip is to bring women together to ride in one of the world’s best MTB locations, so casual and relaxed vibes will be abundant.

*Tom will act as our chef, and only be present for the meal times and upon request- all other activities will be women only. Heather will always be available to ride with you too, even on day off :)

Chalet Chef & Host Day Off

Your chef and host have Saturday 12th September off which means you’ll receive dinner 4 days out of 5. We can help you book somewhere for dinner when you arrive - we find that the group often goes out to dinner together. A continental breakfast will still be available in chalet on chef & host day off.

  • There are 5 large ensuite bedrooms in the chalet, and each will be made up as a twin room.

Your booking will be for one bed in a shared twin room unless otherwise specified; the person you are sharing with will be another member of the SheRides collective, unless of course you choose to book a private room. Private sole occupancy rooms will be made with a double bed.

    • All linen and towels are provided

    • Hair dryers available in each room

    • 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, body wash and hand soap are provided in each bathroom

Our social rides have a super loose structure; we won’t be rushing to get done, we won’t be pushing to tick off features, or forcing anyone to ride anything they aren’t comfortable with.

Les Gets

  • If you’d like help organising airport transfers you can contact our partner here.

    Arriving by Plane

The quickest way to get to resort from the UK is by plane. The best airport to fly into is Geneva Airport (GVA) as it’s only an hours’ drive away from Les Gets and it’s really accessible from airports all over the UK. There are different ways to get from GVA to resort:

    • Airport transfers

At this time in the season it can be difficult to find shared transfers so our partner has made it super easy to get to and from resort by organising a private transfer from Geneva airport.

All you need to do is get in touch with them before booking your flights to confirm the best arrival and departure times, guaranteeing your spot on a transfer. Once you’ve booked (you’ll pay directly with them), they’ll share all the details you need to make your journey as smooth as possible.

You can email our partner here for a transfer quote.

This information will also be available in your booking confirmation email.

If you’d prefer to organise your own transfer this is fine too, there are multiple transfer companies that operate all summer long. To find these companies just pop ‘Les Gets transfers’ into a search engine and you’ll find lots of companies offering transfers.

    • Car hire

You could hire a car and self drive your way to resort - we’ve plenty of parking at the chalet! You can hire a car from the airport or in Geneva (theres a train from the airport to the city centre.

    • Train from the airport to resort

You can also catch the train from Geneva airport to Thonon-les-Bains and then catch the bus from Thonon to Les Gets- but please check the schedules and times of both before you choose this as an option.

There are more budget friendly options like buses and ride-sharing, but these are not always the most reliable options.

    UK to France by Car

Driving from the UK is a great way to travel and can be turned into an adventure in its own right. We would recommend breaking the journey up with an overnight stay somewhere around the Dijon or Reims area, but for the hardcore drivers out there, it absolutely can be done in one hit - just try and time it so you get here in time for dinner!

There is free parking directly outside the chalet.

    UK to France By Train

From the UK, you can take the Eurostar to France, then travel on to the French Alps- it’s the dream way to travel!

From your French stop (usually Paris or Lille Europe) you can get the train all the way to Thonon-les-Bains (not direct), which is about 45 minutes outside of Les Gets. This is a great option for those looking to travel in an eco-friendly way and can be combined with stays in new places for a fun adventure. From Thonon there is a bus to Les Gets, and there are of course taxis- please check the schedules and times of both before you choose this as an option.

  • If you’d like help purchasing lift passes you can contact our partner here.

    Lift Passes

*NOT INCLUDED- you will need to buy your own lift pass to access the bike park*

Les Gets is a lift-accessed bike park so you’ll need a lift pass to ride the chairs and gondolas, allowing you to get up the mountain and access the trails.

A full Portes du Soleil lift pass is recommended for this trip

*Please note that at this point in the season, not all lift connections may be open. However, the main lifts in Les Gets and Morzine will remain open until the end of the season, so there will still be plenty of great riding available.

    • Price

A full area lift pass for an adult, 26-64 years, is approximately €34 per day or €137 for 4 days (as per the online prices at the time of writing). There are different price options for different age categories and some special offers, so always check online in advance. These are guideline prices only, we cannot guarantee lift pass prices.

Check out this link for more information:

    www.lesgets.com/en/lift-pass/summer-lift-pass-prices/

    Bikes

*NOT INCLUDED- you’ll need to bring your own bike or hire locally*

    • Bringing Your Bike

We have a large, secure garage to store your bike. If you’ve never travelled with your bike before, it’s really easy. Most guests fly with their bike packed in a bike bag or box. We’ve partnered with Adventure Kit Hire, so you can rent a high-quality bike bag for your trip - and SheRides guests get a discount code, you’ll automatically get this in your booking confirmation.

*This is an affiliate link, which means we may receive a small benefit at no extra cost to you.

    • Bike Hire

Don’t want to bring your bike? Hiring a bike in Les Gets can range from anywhere between €60 and €150 per day with a huge variety of bikes and specs on offer. There are also deals and offers that run throughout the summer, so it’s worth noting that this is a guideline price.

  • The Village

Les Gets is your quintessential French Alpine village, packed with adorable chalets, family vibes and plenty to see and do.

It’s home to some of the very best food, coffee and bars in the whole of the Portes du Soleil. It has much more of a community village vibe than Morzine, and is the perfect place for those looking for a quieter pace of life.

That’s not to say there isn’t lots still going on!

    The Bike Park

Les Gets sits at the heart of the Portes du Soleil (PDS), the largest connected bike park in the world. With 600km of trails, 22 lifts, and 6 dedicated bike parks spanning France and Switzerland, it’s an MTB paradise where you can explore new terrain every day. And it’s all accessible with just one lift pass - the full area Portes du Soleil bike park pass.

From Les Gets, you can ride straight into the wider network - linking to Morzine, Chatel, Avoriaz, Champery and beyond. Expect everything from flowing blues and scenic greens to world-class jump lines and technical alpine descents.

Les Gets itself is famous for its perfectly built flow trails. Some of our favourite trails in the whole of the PDS bike park are in Les Gets. Plus the opportunity for progression here is fantastic - whatever your level, it’s why we chose to host our retreats here!

Two main lifts serve the Les Gets village: Les Chavannes, your gateway to the main bike park and Morzine connections, and Mont Chéry, a quieter mountain with steeper, more advanced trails and stunning views of Mont. Blanc.

*Please note that at this point in the season, not all lift connections may be open. However, the main lifts in Les Gets and Morzine will remain open until the end of the season, so there will still be plenty of great riding available.

    Activities

Whilst mountain biking is what the village is centred around, there is so much more to do in Les Gets.

There is a swimming lake with an inflatable obstacle course, the 4 Seasons Luge- an adrenaline fuelled alpine roller coaster (that is extremely reasonably priced), stunning hikes and a night-time illuminated forest walk, just to name a few.
