What to Expect

If you can confidently ride a red, this ride is for you. If you’re after something a little more blue trail friendly, check out our Cannock Chase ride on the 9th May.

This one is for those that like their trails a little spicier! You can expect jumps, drops and steep descents as we explore some of the best off-piste the Chase has to offer.

A step up in difficulty from the usual monthly social ride, the route is suitable for people that can confidently ride red graded trails. However, it will still be a relaxed vibe with no expectations or pressure - some features can be ridden around but some may need to be walked if you don't like the look of it.

We’ll be riding around 20-25km with approx. 600m elevation. Expect to be out 3-4 hours duration so bring plenty of water and snacks!

If you're unsure if this ride is suitable for you, please get in touch with Phoebe to discuss. Please contact her via our social rides group (link above) either tag her in a post or shoot her a private message.

We will meet in the spot listed below, get acquainted and then check out the trails. We usually finish up around lunch time by this point most people are keen to eat and Phoebe will be stopping for a coffee after the ride so feel to hang around for a bit of a social if you’d like to. All are welcome to join. You can also get food at the cafe or feel free to bring your own.

It’s a super loose structure; we won’t be rushing to get done, we won’t be pushing to tick off features, the aim is to have fun and ride bikes!

No pressure, just good times!

Where to Meet Us

Phoebe will be ready and waiting by the benches just outside the Cannock Chase Visitor Centre cafe off Marquis Drive ready to ride for 10am (we’re not going to hang around too long, so try to be on time so you don’t miss the ride).

You can contact our ambassadors by tagging them in a post/ comment on our facebook group (link at the top of this page). If you are running late, please let them know.

Facilities

There are great facilities at this meet this spot:

  • Parking is either free on the road or there is a paid car park available (£3.50 all day). *Please note it can get quite busy so if you’re parking on the road please allow extra time to find a space.

  • Toilets

  • Cafe

What Should you Bring?

Equipment:

It’s super important to note that we will not ride with anyone who is not wearing a helmet!

Other than that, the protective gear that you bring is up to you- we normally ride with knee / elbow pads and maybe gloves, depending on the conditions. You’ll also need a bike that is trail suitable, safe and in working order so we can avoid repairs at the start of the day.

It is possible to hire a bike from the Cannock Chase Cycle Centre, but we strongly recommend that you do it well in advance if that’s your plan.

Food:

Please make sure you have plenty of water and snacks, as we will be away from the vehicles until the end of the ride.

Phoebe will be grabbing a coffee after the ride. Everyone is welcome to stick around for lunch/coffee either from the cafe or bring a packed lunch.

What Will it Cost?

The ride itself is totally free, we won’t be charging you anything for our company.

You might need some money for parking if you choose to park in the car park. Or you can park on the road for free.

Important Info

Photos:

Our ambassadors may take photos or videos during the ride to use on social media or in promotions. It’s a great way to show others what our rides are really like and help those who might be nervous feel more confident about joining next time.

If you'd prefer not to be included in any photos or videos, just let your ambassador know at the start of the ride — no problem at all!
